HISTORIC FREEHOLD BOROUGH TOURS WILL BE OFFERED ON JUNE 23

FREEHOLD, N.J. — The Freehold Historic Preservation Commission will sponsor a tour of historic Freehold Borough on Saturday, June 23. There will be up to three 90-minute tours offered on a bus that will pass several points of historical interest.

Kevin Coyne, Freehold Borough’s historian, will be the guide for each tour. Highlights of the tour include the Metz Bicycle Museum, the Covenhoven House, St Peter’s Episcopal Church, the Court Street School, Grape Beginnings Wine School, the A&M Karagheusian Rug Mill and the Central Railroad Station. Participants will be given time to visit selected stops.

The tour will start at the Monmouth County Historical Museum, 70 Court Street, with the first bus departing at 10:30 am. Depending on demand, additional tours will depart at 12:30 and 2:30 pm. Tickets are $12 each and are on sale at Freehold Borough Hall, 51 West Main Street, and the Freehold Center Partnership, 17 Broad Street, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. All ticket holders will receive special coupons for discounted meals at participating downtown restaurants, June 23–24.
