Yale To Offer Organ Recital Series

NEW HAVEN — Yale Institute of Sacred Music will present the second edition of Yale Organ Week June 11-15. The weeklong event will feature recitals by two Yale professors, two Yale students, and three guest artists, showcasing the three extraordinary instruments at the university.

On Monday, June 11, Yale professors Thomas Murray and Martin Jean will perform on all  three organs in succession. The joint recital will begin at 8 pm in Dwight Chapel (67 High Street), proceed to Battell Chapel (corner of College and Elm Streets) at approximately 8:45, and conclude in Woolsey Hall (corner College and Groves Streets), beginning at approximately 9:30.

On Wednesday, June 13, guest artists will perform a recital in two parts, starting at 8 pm in Dwight Chapel and continuing in Woolsey Hall approximately one hour later. They will include Delbert Disselhorst of the University of Iowa, John Schwandt of the American Organ Institute (University of Oklahoma), and Ann Elise Smoot of the United Kingdom.

On Thursday, June 14, and Friday, June 15, student organists will perform. Thursday’s recital will begin at Dwight Chapel at 8 pm, with the second half starting approximately one hour later at Battell Chapel. Friday’s recital will take place in Woolsey Hall at 8 pm.
