Of The Food Pantry

To the Editor:

It would take pages of The Newtown Bee to publish all the kindness shown to the FAITH Food Pantry by the individuals, churches, schools, organizations, and local businesses that support our mission to help feed our Newtown residents. Yet there comes a time when we feel it’s important for the community to understand what wonderful corporate neighbors we have.

Caraluzzi’s provides us with special one-pound packages of discounted ground beef. All it takes is a phone call and they always have it ready for us to pick up. They also have donated groceries in the past.

Big Y donates day-old bakery items and has had programs for us to “shop” for needed items. 

This week we received an important monetary donation from Newtown Stop & Shop that was raised last October and November as a result of their Food for Friends fundraiser. The cashiers “sold” paper turkeys at the registers. Without the management’s support and the enthusiasm of the cashiers the program would not have been so successful. This contribution will be most helpful during this busy time at the pantry. With the ever-increasing numbers of clients, the food flies out almost as fast as we can shop and get it on the shelves.

With the generosity of the entire community and the very hard work and dedication of our amazing volunteers FAITH Food Pantry will continue our mission with gratitude to all who make it possible.
