Genealogical Researcher Marilyn Giese, June 6 At Library

Highly regarded genealogical researcher Marilyn Giese will be the guest speaker of Newtown Genealogy Club at 7 pm on Wednesday, June 6. Her program will be in the lower meeting room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

(Due to a scheduling conflict at the library, this is a change of date from the club’s usual second Wednesday of the month meeting schedule. This is also the last meeting until September. The club does not meet in July and August.)

Ms Giese’ topic for Wednesday night will be “Digging up the Dead.” Well known in professional genealogical circles, Ms Giese, who lives in Connecticut, is a member of the Genealogical Speakers’ Guild, National Genealogical Society and New England Historical Genealogical Society.

Ms Giese specializes in 17th, 18th and 19th Century Colonial period emigration and immigration, as well as federal records, land records and Scottish clans. She holds a BA degree in education and an MA in public administration.

Newtown Genealogy Club is open to anyone interested in genealogical research, and it supports the efforts of Booth Library and assists in the upkeep of the library’s genealogical room and extensive collections. Nonmembers are always welcome at the lectures and meetings, which always include a question and answer session.
