Kenneth Leroy Bowman

Kenneth Leroy Bowman, 68, of the Town of St James, N.C., formerly of Newtown, died at home, May 25, with his family beside him, after fighting cancer for more than a year. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, November 13, 1943, to Ruth (Landenberger) Brown and Vernon Bowman.

Mr Bowman graduated from Columbus, Ohio’s West High School in 1956. He joined the US Army in April 1965, served most of his duty in the Panama Canal, and was honorably discharged in March 1971.

Upon returning to civilian life, he enrolled in Ohio Dominican University and graduated three years later with a degree in business. He was a member of the Masonic Order and he enjoyed playing golf.

He lived in Newtown for 20 years while raising his family with his wife, Sharon (McConahay) Bowman. After a 33-year career, he retired from Sharp Electronics as director of operations in April 2004, and built a home in St James. He fully enjoyed his retirement. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed bowling and playing poker with his friends.  

His mother; his loving wife of 42 years; daughter Denise Tramposch, and her husband Steve, of Newtown; son Aaron Bowman, and his wife Carol, of Danbury; five grandchildren; and several of his siblings in Ohio and Indiana survive Mr Bowman.

Visitation and Masonic rites took place in North Carolina, May 29.
