Organic Farmers’ Market

Opening Day Announced

The Farmers’ Market at Fairfield Hills (FM@FFH), née the Sandy Hook Organic Farmers’ Market, is set to return this month.

The farmers’ market will be running on Tuesdays from 2 to 6 pm beginning June 19. It will also be in the same location as last year, on the northern side of Washington Square at Fairfield Hills, off Keating Farms Avenue.

Market mistress Mary Fellows promises “lots of new vendors this year, coming to spread culinary cheer,” and the return of some popular favorites for the market’s tenth anniversary season. The market, a member of the Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA), will again feature Connecticut grown organic, heirloom vegetables, flowers, baked goods, and lots of shade.

Ms Fallows has also been working on lining up musical entertainment for the market each week, and the second week of the season will feature fingerstyle guitarist Glenn Roth.

The solo acoustic fingerstyle guitarist is based in Norwalk. His performances offer a mix of jazz standards, popular, classical, and his own original compositions. His live work can sound like multiple guitars, but it is really just one guy, ten flying fingers, one instrument.

Also on the schedule this year will be the return of Roger Sprung, The Sawtilles, and Monk Rogers from Boston, among others.

The market generally runs until mid-October, depending on crops and weather.

For additional information contact Mary Fellows at 203-313-9908 or mflmf@aol.com.
