Photography Show Opening Reception Saturday Morning At Wild Birds Unlimited

BROOKFIELD — Coffee and donuts will be served during the opening reception this weekend of an exhibition of works by three nature photographers whose works will be on view for two months at Wild Birds Unlimited.

The public is invited to the store, at 317 Federal Road, on Saturday, June 2, for light refreshments and the opportunity to be among the first to enjoy the images by David Powell, Doug Brown and Keith Bauer.

David Powell has been involved in photography for over 40 years with a preference for photographing nature subjects. He has numerous awards and credits and is a member of North American Nature Photographers Association.

A former Newtown resident, Mr Powell has traveled internationally in pursuit of photographic opportunities. He is a contributor to and photo coordinator for the Albuquerque, N.M., nonprofit organization Hawks Aloft (www.HawksAloft.org).

Doug Brown is an internationally renowned professional bird photographer and BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year honoree. His work has been displayed at the British Natural History Museum and a number of other museums around the world.

Mr Brown’s images (DougBrownPhotography.com) can be found in a variety of digital and printed field guides and textbooks including the popular iBird app for smart phones. He has a particular interest in photographing birds in flight.

Keith Bauer’s passion for photography began many years ago while processing black and white images in a high school darkroom. His special areas of interest in photography are wildlife and nature photography, creating images of simple, yet compelling stories.

Mr Bauer (keithbauer.smugmug.com) is an active member of National Association of Photoshop Professionals, North American Nature Photographers Association, and Nature Photographers Network, of which he is both a staff member and moderator in the Avian image critique gallery.

Notable awards include being selected in the NANPA International Showcase competition, being published in the NANPA Expressions book the past three years, recipient of Avian image of the year in the International Nature Photographers Network competition, first place in the Best of 2010 Visual Wilderness contest, and winner of the Professional Photographers of New Mexico selection for the Best of Show in the 2010 Annual New Mexico Photographic Art Show.  View his photos at http://keithbauer.smugmug.com.

The exhibition will remain on view until July 31. It can be viewed any time the store is open. Call 203-775-4888 or visit Danbury.wbu.com for additional information.
