Oils By Brown On View At Municipal Center Art Gallery
The work of Newtown artist Jodi Brown is being presented at The Newtown Municipal Art Gallery through June 30.
The gallery, managed by Newtown Cultural Arts Commission, is open during regular business hours and late Monday through Thursday evenings.
According to Brown, through her paintings she invites viewers “to enter my world, to see life from my perspective and connect with my experiences. Each piece is a portal, allowing others to perceive the world.”
An artist, mother and educator, Brown is a graduate of Paier College of Art the New York Academy of Art in Tribecca. She currently teaches art history and two-dimensional design at Gateway Community College in New Haven. She paints in her home studio “in the woods.”
Her paintings are in oil and can interpret her life, from awakening experiences to dreams. They reflect life before the birth and after the birth of her daughter Willow. They are light-filled and often invite the viewer to see themselves in them.
Brown was a finalist for the 13th Alexander Rutsch Award and Exhibition for Painting 2025.
Her work can also be seen as part of “Those Who Tend,” a group exhibition being presented in partnership with Visionary Art Collective at Warnes Contemporary Gallery in Brooklyn, N.Y., through June.
