Police List Enforcement During Holiday Weekend

Police report that they were active enforcing motor vehicle laws during the Memorial Day weekend, the period that traditionally marks the start of the summer driving season.

During the 84-hour period running from noon on Friday, May 27, through the end of Monday, May 30, Newtown police stopped 95 motorists driving on local roads to investigate, police said in a statement.

During that period, police investigated seven motor vehicle accidents, none of which involved fatalities.

Also, police report that during that period, they arrested two motorists on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
