Richard E. Henderson

Richard Henderson, 48, a longtime Connecticut resident, died on May 29. A loving and devoted husband, he is survived by his wife of 20 years, Susan.

He was raised in Wilton. His parents, Don and Joan, now in Southbury, also raised two other sons, Don Jr, of Greene, Maine, and Bruce, also of Southbury, and all attended Wilton High School. He was especially proud of achieving “Eagle Scout” with both of his brothers in 1971.

Richard shared the love of aviation with his entire family, earning a private pilot’s license in 1976. He graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a degree in English in 1980. He used his writing talents while employed by Forecast International/DMS in Newtown, and also while editing the sweepstakes publication Contest Newsletter in Bethel.

His extended family included Ethel Bowden; Lester and Erna Selnick; Larry and Diane Selnick and their son Stephen; Hal and Melissa Selnick and their sons, Aaron and Mathew; Norma and Ray Ledan and their children, Meghan and Nicholas; Arnold Selnick; Ken Selnick, daughter Alexandra and fiancé Alfie Peters.

Services were scheduled to take place Friday, June 4, at 1 pm in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, with Kendall Palladino, chaplain of Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, officiating.

Visiting hours were scheduled in the Kane Funeral Home on Thursday, June 3, from 4 to 7 pm.
