Senior Boys A

Newtown 7, Guilford 5 – Ned Emerson scored a goal and assisted on three others to lead Newtown past Guilford. Tim Wheeler scored twice while Paul Tropsa, Blake Bell, Will Mahony and Derek Flynn all scored solo goals. Tropsa chipped in with a pair of assists while Mahony and Mario Roehrs also had assists. John Grimaldi, Alex DiVico and Ryan Golankiewicz played well, as did goaltender Joe Banno, who collected eight saves.

Senior Girls Gold

Brookfield 10, Newtown 6 – Meagan Kelly had three goals and an assist and Marnie Thompson added two goals and an assist to lead the Senior Gold in a tough loss to Brookfield. Renee Solheim chipped in with a goal with Keegan Frobey and Stephanie Paproski dishing off assists. Rachel Rockwell and Jenna Ruddock made eight saves apiece in goal with Katherine Donahue, Caroline Kraich, and Devon Ferris combining to grab nine ground balls.

Junior Boys A

 

Newtown 11, Watertown 1 – Lewis Thompson scored three goals and assisted on two others as Newtown won its fifth straight game. Dylan Heubner had two goals and one assist while Tim Dalton and Ben Mahony each had one goal and one assist. Conor McNamara and Max Paynter scored goals, while Tyler Davenport and Kevin Curry each had assists.  Defensively, the unit of Chris Gregory, Jeremy Schaniel and Michael Hadgraft kept the Newtown end clear for goalies Andrew Hyland and Colby Summerlin.

Newtown 10, Eli 7 – Tim Dalton scored five goals to lead Newtown past Eli. Max Paynter scored two goals and assisted on another as Lewis Thompson, Jamie Bowers and Max Brazo also scored. Andrew Huland, Paynter, Dylan Huebner, Thompson and Kevin Curry recorded assists. Andrew Golankiewicz and Max Naciewicz were their usual stellar selves with the long sticks on the defensive end.

Junior Boys Gold

 

Newtown 5, Eli 4 – John Johnson scored two goals, including the game winner in overtime, to lead the Junior Gold to their first win of the season over Eli. Cameron Gehrman had two goals and an assist, Mike Ownes had a goal and an assist, and Thomas DiLuoffo dished of an assist to round out the scoring. The close defense of Conor Halloran, Billy Thursland, Liam Ferguson, and Michael Gould did an outstanding job in tight. Goaltenders Willy Provey and Colby Gleacher combined to make seven saves in the cage.
