Teen Conference At UConn

BETHEL — More than 100 teens will gather at the University of Connecticut from July 11 to July 13 for the Teen Connection Conference. The conference provides opportunities for youth to build connections in themselves, to each other, to other adults, and to the resources provided by the University.

“The purpose of this conference is to give teenagers an opportunity to learn about the campus and its wealth of resources,” said UConn Fairfield County 4-H County Educator Ede Valiquette. “It will also give them a chance to meet and talk to other teenagers from across the state.” Any youth, grades 9 through 12 (entering ninth grade) or aged 14 to 19 is eligible to attend. Conference teens do not need to be a 4-H member to participate.

The conference is planned by teens in partnership with the 4-H Youth program of the University of Connecticut Cooperative Extension System. During the conference, youth will explore the university, live in a college dorm, attend workshops, investigate careers, participate in educational workshops and discuss teen issues with peers and adults. The conference community service project will be a walkathon on Sunday, July 11.

For more information about the conference or walkathon, call 203-207-3264 or email evalique@canr.uconn.edu.
