Quilt Raffle A Success

To the Editor,

On June 1, Sandy Hook School held its drawing for our Quilt Raffle. This year’s quilt, entitled “A Walk Down Main Street,” featured 19 historic homes and buildings. Inspired by photos taken by Bob and Linda Rogers, Fawn Schmidt, a Sandy Hook mother of four, reproduced these Newtown landmarks using appliqué and quilting techniques. This two-year project was well worth it! Through her efforts, Sandy Hook School raised a little over $4,000. The proceeds of this raffle will be used for student enrichment programs at the school.

Congratulations to Sue Vogelman, a first grade teacher at Sandy Hook School, who won the quilt. The PTA would also like to thank local merchants My Place Restaurant, Stop and Shop, Dick Blick Art Supplies, and Joy’s Hallmark for their prize donations. Thank you again to all our supporters.

Sincerely,

Rhonda Cullens and Graceann Hanulik
