Golf Tourney Will Help

NHS Hockey Reach Goals

To the Editor:

I am writing to invite readers of this letter to participate in the 1st Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser on Friday, June 26, to benefit the Newtown High School Ice Hockey Team.

Ice hockey is an expensive sport to play at NHS. This is due to a combination of elements, including the high cost of our icy playing field and limited funding. This past season each NHS ice hockey player paid in excess of $1,500 for the season to cover ice time, buses, referees, medical coverage at home games, etc. We hope to reduce the costs for the upcoming season through fundraising efforts and a successful tournament can help towards that goal.

The tournament will be held at Candlewood Valley Country Club in New Milford. We have some great prizes that players can win — such as a three-year Volvo lease, a 42-inch LCD TV, Yankee Tickets and more! The cost to play is $550/foursome and $149/individual player. The cost includes 18 holes of golf, breakfast, carts, dinner and a gift bag. Visit NewtownHockey.com for more information and registration forms. Or you can reach me by email at DonnaSolomons@earthlink.net or by phone at 364-0321.

Sincerely,

Donna Solomons
