If A Sampler Could Talk

HARTFORD — Connecticut Historical Society will host a program called “If this Sampler Could Talk” on Saturday, June 13, from 10:30 am until noon.

Glee Krueger, the author of New England Samplers to 1840, and Dr Susan Schoelwer, CHS’s director of collections development, will offer the lecture, which will examine how needlework samplers tell stories about the women who stitched them. Additionally, participants will learn how to preserve and protect  samplers. Those attending are encouraged to bring samplers from their own collections.

Light refreshments will be served immediately following.

Admission is $15, $10 for members, seniors and students, and reservations are recommended.

Following the lecture, CHS will be open to the public, free of charge, as part of Connecticut Open House Day. Tours and family activities are planned  throughout the day.

Connecticut Historical Society is at One Elizabeth Street, Hartford. For more information, call 860-236-5621.
