Taback Earns First In Discus Throw

Newtown High School’s girls’ and boys’ outdoor track and field teams participated in the Class L Championships in Manchester on Monday. The girls placed eighth with 24 points (Norwich Free Academy won the meet with 128) and the boys were 19th with 10 (Danbury won with 108).

Newtown’s Rachel Taback took top honors in the discus throw event with a throw of 121 feet. Lauren Sudbey placed third in the pole vault competition with a vault of 11 feet. In the boys’ meet, John Wlasuk came in third in the discus throw (140-05).
