As the school year nears its end, St Rose of Lima School held its traditional Red Carpet Day on May 18.

The event is held to celebrate members of the school’s graduating eighth grade class.

For the event, Dean of Student Life Mary Jo Bokuniewicz decorated the school’s Gathering Hall with a red carpet and “VIP” stars. Eighth grade students then dressed “glamorously” and walked the red carpet to receive awards when announced by Bokuniewicz.

The following day, eighth grade student Alicia Ventresca received the St Thomas Aquinas Award at a ceremony that took place at the Diocese of Bridgeport Catholic Schools. The award is given to the eighth grade student with the highest academic performance the first three semesters of the school year.

Alicia was joined by her parents, Fred and Kathy Ventresca, as well as St Rose of Lima School Principal Dr Bardhyl Gjoka and Monsignor Robert Weiss for the event.
