Opposes Zone Change
To The Editor:
A developer has requested a zone change from BPO (business or professional office) to M-4 (industrial commercial) for a 1.58 acre lot adjoining our property on Mt. Pleasant Road. His plan is to build a two story public self-storage facility.
We have been fortunate to live at Liberty at Newtown Condominiums for over twenty years and enjoyed its beauty and its peacefulness. We are a senior community, and we are grateful for the privacy it has provided and the belief that we are safe when going to bed. Our building backs up to the subject property, and we don’t believe that we will feel the same sense of security with a public storage facility in our backyard. (noise, lighting & possible disturbances)
The property is zoned BP0 for business or professional offices that would fit nicely in our neighborhood which is often referred to as “The Medical Mile”. A public storage facility would not only make us less safe but would be totally out of character.
Therefore, we request that the Planning and Zoning committee deny the application for zone change for the above stated reasons. Thank you.
