To The Editor:

The Conservation Commission's first workday of the Invasive Plant Task Force was held on Sunday, June 1, at Fairfield Hills.

The Commission extends our gratitude to volunteers for their efforts in ridding a section along the trail of invasive plants and for making the day a huge success. Invasives removed included Mugwort, Oriental Bittersweet, Burning Bush, Autumn Olive and Japanese Barberry. Several native trees and shrubs were rescued as a result of our efforts.

The Task Force is planning monthly workdays. Anyone interested in joining the Task Force can contact the Land Use office at dawn.fried@newtown-ct.gov.
