Henry M. Kirschblum

Henry M. Kirschblum, 99, of Fairfield died peacefully on June 5. Mr Kirschblum was born in Bridgeport and was the son of the late Golda (Tischler) and Meyer Kirschblum.

His is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Sarah Sylvia Kirschblum, and his five children: Rosalie Newman of Newtown, Nancy Jessell of Milford, Elaine Kosri of Fairfield, Mark Kirschblum of Lebanon, and Carol Cole of Canton; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr Kirschblum's siblings Dr Harry Kirban, Bertha Abramowitz, William Kirban, Fran Hirshik and Margit Horowitz predeceased him.

He was a proud veteran who served his country during World War II in the Army and Air Force from October 12, 1943, to January 9, 1946. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star medal.

After the war, Mr Kirschblum and his brother Bill opened Radio Service Specialists of Connecticut. He served as vice president and was a self-taught television technician. He was also a television technician for Lafayette Electronics and Glenwood Electronics.

Mr Kirschblum was an avid UConn Huskies and Mets fan. He enjoyed watching professional wrestling, bringing joy to people by singing his favorite songs, celebrating life's special occasions, and enjoying lunch daily with his wife and veteran friends at the Trumbull Mall.

He was a devoted and loyal son, brother, husband, father and friend. His family and friends will remember him as a quiet, kind, caring and giving man with a wonderful sense of humor. His passion for family and life was felt everyday.

A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, June 7, at 11 am, directly at Ahavath Achim Cemetery, 250 Reid Street in Fairfield. Shiva will be observed following the graveside service at the Newman residence.

The family will be forever grateful and would like to thank his caregivers Margarita Mitchell, Mary Brown, Sonia Burrowes and Colleen Rose for their efforts, dedication and compassion.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
