Many residents came out to the Low-Cost Rabies Vaccination Clinic at the Brian J. Silverlieb Animal Care and Control Center on Saturday, May 14.

Dr Rakesh Vali, owner of Mt Pleasant Hospital for Animals and Pleasant Paws Pet Center in Newtown, vaccinated 6 cats and 15 dogs against rabies.

Newtown resident Dora Sorg and her daughter, Addison, were one of the first to arrive with their 10-year old dog Lucy, who has three legs.

Next in line was Newtown resident Susan Corbett and her 9-year-old rescue dog, Midnight. Midnight was happy to meet everyone at the clinic — especially Newtown Animal Control Officer Carolee Mason, who gave her extra pets before Dr Vali and his lead technician Mary Simpson vaccinated Midnight.

Those who attended were invited to enjoy complimentary treats, leashes, and other goodies donated by Dr Vali and distributed by Town Clerk Debbie Aurelia Halstead.
