Donald Belanger

Donald Augustus Belanger, age 91 of Sandy Hook, passed away at home surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Adrienne Harrison Belanger.

Donald was born on August 10, 1930, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to the late Theodore A. Belanger and Maria Incoronata (Gertrude) Margiotta Belanger. Donald served in the United States Army Signal Corps during the Korean War. He then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Bridgeport. Donald was then employed in the electronics and aerospace industries for forty years. He enjoyed watching sports and rooting for his favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox, while drinking his all-time favorite beer, Guinness.

Donald is survived by: daughter Adrienne Irene Belanger of Sandy Hook, Conn.; son Philip Belanger (Celia) of Maine; daughters Gina DelVento (Rob) of Southbury, Conn., and Janice Kaufman (Daryl) of Oxford, Conn.; as well as his brother David Belanger of Michigan. Donald is also survived by seven grandchildren: Desiree Rosato (Richard Filipek), Amber, Ashley, and Vincent DelVento, Caitlyn, Sean, and Samantha Kaufman; as well as three great-grandchildren: Dominic, Roman, and Kylo Filipek, whom he loved very much. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings: Douglas, Rowland, Raymond, and Robert Belanger, and Shirley Kihl.

Funeral services for Donald will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, Conn. Interment will follow at Newtown Village Cemetery.
