To the Editor:

First, welcome back. I was on my way to buy a paper when I found one in my mailbox. You did a great job online.

I was reading “Way We Were” and the very first article caught my eye. June, 1995 (25 years ago), a development group wanted to put a 110,000 square foot exhibition hall in Hawleyville, on the west side of Rte 25, 1/5 of a mile north of I-84.

Now we have a large church there, a gas station/shopping building under construction, and another gas station proposed. (And possibly some kind of age-restricted living ?)

Would we have been better off to have approved that and had 25 years of tax revenue from the exhibition hall?

It seems this issue keeps coming up over and over again.

Thank you.
