To the Editor:

I was saddened to read of Howard Lasher’s passing in The Newtown Bee last week. While I never met him, I was very impressed by his generosity and philanthropic support of several Newtown organizations as well as many worthy causes.

His creation of the 9/11 “American Flag of Trees” on his property in Newtown is a wonderful remembrance to his colleagues lost that day as well as a constant reminder to all of us of that horrible day in our history.

Newtown was indeed fortunate to have had such a generous benefactor and I hope he will be remembered in some way by the organizations he supported.

May he rest in peace.
