The Weller Foundation, Incorporated, has announced the $22,000 Barton L. Weller Scholarship for full-time seniors at Joel Barlow, Masuk, Newtown, Shelton, and Trumbull High School this fall. Established in 1978, this $22,000 scholarship promotes academic excellence by supporting a substantial five-month independent research or study project.

Students must submit a one to two page proposal in any field to their school's guidance department for verification by Thursday, October 1, 2026.

Up to five finalists, announced on Thursday, October 15, 2026, and each will each receive $200 to help develop their project, which will run through Thursday, March 4, 2027, when final submissions are due. Projects will be evaluated based on how faithfully the final work reflects the original proposal.

Finalists will be interviewed on Wednesday, March 17, 2027, after which one winner will receive a $22,000 scholarship, while runners-up will each receive $500 in recognition of their completed and timely-submitted projects.
