Francis J. Bresson

Francis J. Bresson, 98, of Sandy Hook died peacefully at his home June 8, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Ann Barbara (Kelly) Bresson. He was born September 20, 1917, in Sandy Hook, and was a son of the late Mary (Qubick) and Frederick Bresson.

Raised in Sandy Hook, his family operated a large dairy farm on Bennetts Bridge Road.

Mr Bresson proudly served his country in the US Army as a sergeant during World War II in the Transportation Corps, assigned to the Army Air Corps bases in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, where he saw combat in two battle campaigns. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal, two Bronze Battle Stars, Philippines Liberation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal and Connecticut Service Member Medal. He also served in New Guinea and Southern Philippines. After his service, Mr Bresson operated the family dairy farm with his brother, the late Fred Bresson, until the early 1960s.

Mr Bresson was an avid outdoors man, and loved gardening and making homemade wine.

He leaves three sons and daughters-in-law, Francis E. and Janet Bresson of Southbury, Robert J. and Wendy Bresson of New Milford, and Kenneth J. and Diane Bresson of Southbury. He was blessed with seven grandchildren, Sheri Bresson Fitzpatrick, and husband Ed, Karen Bresson, Danielle and Meghan Bresson, Kelley Johnson, Kristin Sheppard and Leigh Holahan. Two sisters, Anna Maye and Mary Maye; a sister-in-law, Julie Duda and family of Trumbull; and several nieces and nephews survive Mr Bresson. Three sisters and three brothers predeceased him.

A Mass will take place at St Rose Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Saturday, June 11, at noon. Burial will follow with full military honors at St Rose Cemetery in Sandy Hook. Calling hours will take place Friday, June 10, from 5 to 7 pm, at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street North, Southbury.
