UPDATE: This story has been edited to reflect that the C.H. Booth Library will have a booth at the market, the Friends of C.H. Booth Library will not have a booth.

The Newtown Farmers Market is set to return to Fairfield Hills on Tuesdays from 2 to 6 pm starting June 21 until October 25.

The announcement was made this week. This year’s market managers are Natalie McCraigh of Wonderland Jam, Sue Shortt of Shortt’s Farm, and Sean Fitzpatrick of Real Food CT, formerly called Real Food Share.

According to McCraigh, there are 16 vendors set to participate in the Newtown Farmers Market this year, and there are “a few new things that are really exciting.”

A full list of vendors is expected to be shared ahead of opening day. McCraigh highlighted new vendors Uncle Matts Bakery and Cafe from Sandy Hook, which will be bringing local baked goods to the market, and Graze & Co of Newtown, which will bring charcuterie boards and the ability to preorder board selections and orders for larger events.

A guest vendor, Sweet Brioche Artisan Pastries of Trumbull, will join the Newtown Farmers Market once a month, and C.H. Booth Library will be bringing its tent back to the market.

“The community really liked what [the C.H. Booth Library] brings to the table,” McCraigh said, adding that the games, books, DVDs and more at the tent are “a great way for families to come in and pick up items to keep their kids busy in the summer.” The library's booth will not sell items, but will have items available for loan.

The Newtown Farmers Market organizers are also hoping the community will join in a new project: Sharing photos both on social media and with the market of their favorite things and moments while shopping at the market.

McCraigh said they are asking residents who frequent the market to take photos of “the things that make them happy there” and send those photos to the “newtown_ct_farmers_market” Instagram account or Facebook page, facebook.com/farmersmarketatfairfieldhills. People can also post photos to their own social media accounts and tag the Newtown Farmers Market accounts.

The Newtown Farmers Market is held rain or shine; however, it does close in extreme weather, like high winds or thunderstorms.
