Count another milestone for Lathrop School of Dance (LSOD), whose students performed in the 70th Stardust Revue last weekend on Edmond Town Hall’s stage. A dance studio founded by Ginny and Mack Lathrop, LSOD has graced the same stage since its inception, bringing several generations of Newtown families and friends together to cheer on the dancers year after year.

From seasoned Stardusters down to 3- and 4-year-old “Little Wonders,” the audience’s attention on June 4-5 — through two performances each day — was drawn to the stage watching beautiful tap, jazz, ballet, and hip hop numbers.

The beauty in each dance was exceeded by the beauty of watching how dancers have improved and mastered their steps, making dance numbers flow with style and grace. Add in a catchy tune and the audience too was tapping their feet.

Jr Lathrop Dancers, Lathrop Dancers, Divas, Stardusters and everyone in between showcased their talents on stage, and the LSOD Dance Team performed hip hop numbers with jazz moves.

The faculty presented “Encanto!,” a song from the Disney movie of the same name about generations and family — the epitome of what Lathrop School of Dance and what Director Tamra Saric instills in all her students.

As Miss Tamra quotes the song, “This is our home, we’ve got every generation. So full of music, a rhythm of its own design. This is my family, a perfect constellation. So many stars and everybody gets to shine.”

A special performance by Stardusters, “Memories With Our Miss Lynn,” closed the first half of each performance. This dance was dedicated to the late Lynn Lewis, a Lathrop family member lost way too early. Miss Lynn not only choreographed the dance but performed it as well in the 55th Stardust Revue in 2006.

LSOD students worked nine months to learn their routines and had four shows to shine over the weekend. Audiences of families and friends clapped their support and approval from their seats as dancers smiled with joy on stage.

Once again, dancers of Lathrop School of Dance presented the best show ever.
