Wendy (DeVivo) Hedin, 71, of Newtown, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, at Danbury Hospital.

Born in Stamford on August 10, 1954, Wendy graduated from Bard College, and earned her MA in Music Education from the University of Bridgeport. For 30 years, she dedicated her life to music: she balanced a robust performing career as a classical violinist with teaching a private studio of dedicated young musicians from around Fairfield County. When not practicing, she quilted, worked with her hands in her garden, and loved word games and puzzles.

Wendy was predeceased by her parents, Victor and Margretta.

She is survived by her husband, Keith; her son, Kai; and her siblings, Jay and Doe.

Whether onstage with orchestras around Connecticut or in her violin studio, Wendy was known for her passionate performance and her commitment to excellence. She will be remembered for her quick wit, her creative soul, and her indomitable will.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance, PO Box 344, Newtown CT 06470, whose rapid response ensured Wendy was able to spend her last days cared for in quiet comfort.

Per Wendy’s request, no public memorial service will be held.
