Carol Linnea “Lin” Walsh, 80, of Newtown, passed away peacefully at Danbury Hospital on June 9, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Lin was born to Carol and Fredrick Taylor of East Norwalk. She grew up there on the family dairy farm, Taylor-Marvin Farm, before marrying the love of her life, Joseph Leo Walsh.

Lin and Joe were able to celebrate 59 years of marriage. They married in 1967, building a beautiful life with their two children, Joseph and Susan, in Newtown.

Lin dedicated much of her life to the Girl Scouts, first as a lifelong Scout and later as an Outdoor Program Director, where she inspired countless young people through leadership, learning and service. She believed deeply in the value of curiosity, creativity and community, and she generously shared those gifts generously with everyone around her.

Known for her quick wit, intelligence and determination, Lin possessed an endless desire to learn. Family members often joked that she was a human encyclopedia, able to answer almost any question and always eager to discover something new. She was wonderfully crafty, always creating, building, sewing and baking or finding a new project to master.

Lin leaves behind her husband, Joseph; her children, Joseph Walsh and Susan Gagne (Tim); her cherished grandchildren; her brothers Bill (Janet) Taylor and John Taylor, as well as several other family members.

Friends and Family are invited to call at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown, on Thursday June 18, from 4 to 7 pm. Interment will be private.
