Elizabeth Joan Noble Pinckney, known as Beth Pinckney, age 62, of Stones Rest Farm, Lincolnton, N.C., left this world suddenly on January 21, 2025. Our world has lost a beautiful, loving soul too soon who will be deeply missed by her children and grandchildren, family and many friends.

Beth came into this world with unexpected speed and was delivered by her then 19-year-old sister, Mary Frances, at home in Lordship, Conn., on September 20, 1962. She was the loved daughter of Ralph Henry Noble, Jr and Betty May Malmquist Noble and mostly grew up in Sandy Hook, a section of Newtown, that she deeply loved, in her Grandmother Gladys Malmquist’s “Cottage on the Lane” with its brook and woods nurturing her love of animals, nature and gardening.

She graduated from Sandy Hook School in Newtown, and Central High School in Bridgeport. She also was a student at Newtown and Guilford High Schools for her freshman and sophomore years. After graduating from Butler Business School, she was a student at Housatonic Community College. Accounting and finance were her forte and her Milford, Conn., employer transferred her from Connecticut to Charlotte, NC. She also worked during her marriage for Alpharma, Inc. in Lincolnton, N.C.

At the time of her death, Beth was a high honors student studying accounting and finance at Gaston College in addition to working for the Lincoln County School System. Her goal was to finish the degree she had started in Connecticut. Her Facebook page motto was “The best way to predict the future is to create it.”

Beth was well-known in Lincolnton, N.C., for her long-time volunteerism as a classroom mom, PTO officer, band parent, Cub Scout den mother/BSA troop leader, and for her support of many good causes. She had a heart of gold and a caring, vibrant personality that made her loved by her friends, neighbors and community.

Beth was predeceased by her parents, grandparents Noble and Malmquist, aunts and uncles Jordan and Brown; sister, Mary Frances Noble Lako and her husband, Steve; nephew SSGT Richard S. Eaton, Jr; and uncle Richard S. Eaton, Sr; her first husband, Danny Seymour; a loved stillborn baby, Rachel Pinckney; and her in-laws, Greta Ann Dobbs Pinckney and Richard Shubrick Pinckney Jr, and their infant daughter, Lu-Ann.

She is survived by the loves of her life, her children, Rebecca Anne Pinckney Cassidy (Joey), Richard Thomas Pinckney, Duncan Pinckney (Terra), and Electra Noble Pinckney; grandson James Cassidy and step-grandchildren Daisy and Gavin Cassidy.

She is also loved and missed by sisters Sharon Noble Eaton of Guilford, and Kathleen Ann Noble (Tom Mulready) of South Britain, and brother Ralph H. Noble III (Lucia) of Germany. She is also survived by many loved nieces, nephews and cousins in the Noble, Brown, Jordan, Lako, Seymour, Malmquist and Burnell families.

Beth is also survived by brothers-in-law Richard Shubrick Pinckney III and Benjamin Arthur Pinckney of Independence, Va.; sister-in-law Anita Louise Pinckney of Palatka, Fla., and their children.

A celebration of Beth’s life, attended by over 100 people, was held in North Carolina on Super Bowl Sunday, February 9, 2025, at North Lincoln High School followed by a private family service at Good Samaritan Funeral Home in Denver, N.C., on February 16, 2025.

Beth’s children have remembered their mother’s constant longing to “come home to Connecticut and her family” and their many, long trips to Connecticut for important family events and vacations. That wish will be fulfilled with her burial at Lakeview Cemetery in Bridgeport, in her grandparents’ Malmquist family plot where her mother is also buried, on Thursday, June 26, at 11:30 am.

Beth’s life will also be celebrated at United Church of Christ, 283 Main Street North in Southbury, on Friday, June 27, at 11 am. A light luncheon will follow in the church hall and all family and friends are welcome to attend.

Former Sandy Hook resident Elizabeth Joan Noble Pinckney, known as Beth Pinckney, age 62, of Stones Rest Farm, Lincolnton, N.C., left this world suddenly on January 21, 2025.
