Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary presented its 9th annual “Catherine’s Butterfly Party” on the Fairfield Hills Campus on Saturday, June 7.

Thousands of participants attended the event despite the inclement weather. Special guest co-announcers for the event were Nicole Nalepa from WFSB Eyewitness News This Morning and the host of Great Day at 9A and Scot Haney, also from Eyewitness News This Morning and Channel 3 meteorologist.

30 animals were adopted, and another 70 applications were submitted. It is expected that the final number of adoptions will be even higher.

Representatives the US Army K9 division were on hand and provided an exciting demonstration of the abilities of military working dogs to protect and defend their owners.

The event also featured food trucks, face painting, glitter tattoos, “Ask the Vet,” a lemonade stand, raffles, crafts, musicians, birds of prey and reptile demonstrations, plush stuffed animals “for adoption,” and a photo booth.

Although there was a downpour during the final hour of the event, guests got to enjoy three dry hours of getting up close and personal with a wide variety of animals, engaging in numerous educational experiences, and viewing exciting demonstrations.
