Condo Opponents Seek Support
To the Editor:
As many people are aware, we are currently fighting a proposal from a Danbury developer to build 23 condos on four acres in Sandy Hook center at 95-99 Church Hill Road. He was denied twice under our current regulations and is now seeking to create a new high-density, townwide zone change.
Through the help and effort of many residents, our grass roots campaign has significantly raised awareness and generated much interest throughout the townâ¦but thereâs still one big fight to win.
Recently, we received some trusted advice that our group should hire legal assistance that could provide the âprofessional muscleâ necessary to defeat this developerâs request for a self-serving zone change and unsightly construction plan.
Unfortunately, with legal help come legal fees, and although we are doing much of the time-consuming legwork ourselves to keep the fees at a minimum, we could really use your help in the form of a donation.
We certainly understand that âspare moneyâ is always at a premium, but having legal counsel represent the concerned residents at this important junction of the P&Z process is the best way to get this developerâs proposals denied.
We have created an account at the Newtown Savings Bank under the name STC â Legal Fund and have opened a post office box to receive any correspondence.
If you are interested in donating to help Stop the Condos, please accept our thanks in advance.
Checks in any amount can be made to: STC â Legal Fund, PO Box 33, Newtown, CT 06470-0475.
Or if you prefer to send an anonymous donation, please send your check to: STC â Legal Fund c/o Newtown Savings Bank, 39 Main Street, Newtown CT 06470
Thanks to everyone who has given their time and effort in helping us with this fight over the past three years. We are confident that all of our hard work will prove successful in the near future.
If you have any questions, please call 364-1199 or 270-8349.
