Summer programs for children ages 4-13 will be available from the Summer Day Camp/Child Care Programs through Newtown Parks & Recreation, with limited spaces available. COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions will be in place.

There is no half-pint program or summer school late drop-off program this year.

There will be three two-week sessions of the Summer Day Camp Child/Care Program:

*Session 1 — June 29-July 10

*Session 2 — July 13-July 24

*Session 3 — July 27-August 7

The schedule for all sessions will bee Monday through Friday, 9 am to 3 pm. No early drop-off care or late-stay aftercare will be available. The fee is $330 per session. Session codes and information will be available after June 15 at newtown-ct.gov/parks-recreation.

Summer Day Camp/Child Care Refund Policy

For those who signed up prior to June 11, 2020, if this new arrangement does not work for your plans, a full refund will be given. For anyone who signs up after June 12, 2020, a $50 administration fee will be charged per refund, per person, per session. No refunds will be offered after a program begins.

Registration Details

Register for the session dates; the location will be assigned to you. The organizations hope to run at both locations but this may change due to resources.

Treadwell Park will have open swim. At this time, no swim lessons are allowed due to CDC guidelines.

There is a limited capacity at each site and keeping siblings in the same groups at the assigned location will be a priority.

This program is for children ages 4-13; children of similar ages will be kept together in their own groups, based on registrations and head count.

There will be a limited number of scholarships for those who qualify through the Social Services Department.

Summer Day Camp/Child Care New Guidelines

Campers will be in groups of ten and will stay with the designated group/counselor for the duration of the session. Camper groups will stay socially distant from other groups at all times. (Siblings will be kept together to reduce exposure.)

Temperature checks on arrival, with separate entrances for drop off/pickup for each classroom. If anyone has a fever on arrival, they will be sent home.

Counselors are required to wear masks at all times.

Campers will not be required to wear masks per the CDC recommendation. Children frequently touch their faces and adjust the masks, which increases their risk of exposure. However, children are permitted to wear masks if parents prefer it.

All campers and staff will frequently clean their hands throughout the day, especially before and after eating. Campers will also frequently sanitize their hands with hand sanitizer.

Staff will sanitize each station/equipment before and after each transition.

There will be a separate room for anyone who becomes sick during the day. They will be separated from their group until picked up and the entire site will be notified. This may cause a program shutdown for that specific group and/or entire site.
