Spartans Soccer Team Earns Victory

Newtown’s U11 boys’ soccer team, the Spartans, celebrated a 4-1 win over Easton-Redding, in Eason, this past weekend.

Newtown pulled out all the stops in this game, playing hard from the starting whistle and demonstrating the best teamwork of the season.

The defensive wall of Jack Lavelle, Ben Tuffy, Justin Cicarelli, and Tiernan Keane shut down numerous scoring opportunities for their opponents.

Midfielders Justin Gillespie, Andrey Masser, Matt Guinee, and Theodore Silverman hustled at both ends of the field, breaking up plays and moving the ball. Zach Van de Weerdt, Matthew Tassiello, Luke Caplan, and Alex Hess all scored in the win. Stellar performances in net by goalkeepers Felix Summ and Alex Hess secured the victory.
