Newtown Police arrested a New York resident last week after the man reportedly waved a machete from his vehicle while driving along South Main Street.

Newtown Police received a call from a concerned citizen around 9:20 am, Tuesday, June 8, about an individual holding a large knife out the window and waving it around while driving on South Main Street. Police located the vehicle in question.

Following an investigation it was ascertained that the driver of the vehicle, Jeremy Cornielle, 28, of Wappingers Fall, N.Y., had gotten upset at heavy traffic on the highway. Cornielle subsequently waved a machete out the window during a possible road rage incident while driving down the road.

Cornielle was arrested and charged with breach of peace.

He was released after posting $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Court on June 24.
