Red Cross Appeals For Blood
Red Cross Appeals For Blood
FARMINGTON â The Connecticut Region of the American Red Cross Blood Services has issued an urgent appeal for blood donors.
The agency advised its 33 transfusing hospitals in the state last Friday that distribution of blood types O-positive, O-negative, A-negative, B-negative, and AB-negative were being restricted because supplies are not sufficient to meet the expected need in Connecticut. Donors with those types and others are urged to call 800/GIVE-LIFE or visit www.bloodct.org to find a blood drive and make a lifesaving donation.
Blood supplies dropped significantly during the recent five-week strike. The Red Crossâs goal is to be able to stop importing blood from the National Inventory Management System as soon as possible and to once again be self-sufficient as a region.
The next blood drive in Newtown will be on Wednesday, July 5, from 8:30 am to 7 pm at Edmond Town hall.
