Janet Ray Bonath

Former Newtown Resident

Janet (Foley) Ray Bonath, 69, of Stuart, Fla., and previously of Newtown, died May 5 at the Parkway Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stuart. Mrs Bonath was predeceased by her husbands, Matthew Bonath of Stuart and Edward Ray of Newtown. She was born in Bridgeport on May 11, 1938, a daughter of Thomas and Mildred Foley.

Mrs Bonath was a member of St Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Stuart and was a member of St Rose of Lima Church while she lived in Newtown.

Survivors include a daughter, Lorna Potter of Palm City, Fla.; two sisters, Muriel Palmer of Spring Hill, Fla., and Margaret Piggott of Stuart, Fla.; three brothers, Thomas J. Foley of Stratford, Edward L. Foley of Wolcott, and Kenneth F. Foley of Bridgeport. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Helen Speliades, Shirley Wheeler, Mildred P. Honeycutt, and Audrey Reese, all of Newtown; and by a brother, John Foley of  Bridgeport.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church at 10 am, Saturday, June 28. Interment will follow in St Rose Cemetery.

Local arrangements are in care of the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
