Audrey S. Flynn
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Audrey S. Flynn, age 83, who entered the Lord’s Kingdom on June 14, 2026. Born on September 16, 1942, in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Auralia Velky of Newtown.
Audrey graduated from Bassick High School in Bridgeport and pursued work as a book keeper in her early years before working for many years for Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals in Danbury.
She married her love, Lawrence E. Flynn, in 1964. It was fate that brought them together, having been born two days apart at the same hospital. They actually were together, in the same maternity ward at Bridgeport Hospital. Fate continued to guide them as they both lived and grew up streets apart in Bridgeport and went to kindergarten together.
She loved the life they made together, cooking Hungarian food, planting and maintaining her gardens, enjoying periodic trips to the casino and making memories with family, friends and neighbors.
She was predeceased by her sister, Noreen F. Velky of Newtown.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lawrence E. Flynn; her twins, son William and his wife Kristy of Newtown, and her daughter Lori and her husband Chris Montoni of Naugatuck. She will be lovingly missed by her grandchildren Amanda and Theresa Montoni and by her cherished great granddaughter Audrianna.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, from 4 to 7 pm, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown. A prayer service is scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm. Burial will be private with family at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Audrey’s memory are invited to make donations in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Heart Association or any local food bank or pantry.
