To The Editor:

On Tuesday, June 17, Newtown Bridge Club hosted their ninth annual Longest Day fundraiser for the Alzheimer's Association. Bridge games were held throughout the day along with concurrent Scrabble tournaments.

We greatly appreciate The Bee’s wonderful coverage of our Longest Day event.

Thank you to each of our generous sponsors: Bagel Delight, Barnwood Grill, Big Y, Blue Colony Diner, Caraluzzi's, Do or Dye, Dunkin', Hilltop Kitchen, Jewel of Himalaya, Market Place, Mexcla, My Place, Newtown Hardware, Newtown Smile Dentistry, Nostrano’s Italian Eatery, Papa Al’s Pizza, Pure Platinum A Hair Studio, Quality Gem, Sal e Pepe, Stop & Shop, Taco Dia, Tambascio's Italian Grill, The Toy Tree, Toro, and Your Healthy Pet. You are the best!

In addition to the in-person bridge on June 17, we hosted online Longest Day bridge games on BBO on Saturday, June 21, and Sunday, June 22. With the bridge and Scrabble entry fees, plus donations from players, other club members, family and friends, we were able to raise over $20,000 for the Alzheimer's Association. The association supports those living with dementia and their caregivers, and it advances research which hopefully will find a prevention and/or a cure for this insidious disease.

Newtown Bridge Club holds four ACBL-sanctioned duplicate bridge games every week in the Alexandria Room at Edmond Town Hall: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 12:30 pm, and Thursday at 10 am. In addition, bridge lessons are offered on a regular basis for players of all levels. For more information about the bridge club, please contact Club Manager Susan Fronapfel at 203-733-8525 or visit www.newtown bridge.org.
