Appalachian Craft Fair Returning
Appalachian Craft Fair Returning
SHERMAN â Holy Trinity Church will host its 17th Annual Appalachian Craft Fair on Friday and Saturday, July 6-7. The theme of this yearâs fair is âHelping Others To Help Themselves.â
The Appalachian region is one of the economically challenged regions of the United States. The fair in Sherman has always been an outlet for the crafters to sell their wares free of all additional charges.
Through the years it has been a popular source of revenue to both the experienced craft person and the apprentice to display the fruits of their labor and bring home a profit. The crafters establish the price of their items, and all money obtained through their sale is returned directly to the craft person or their co-op.
Appalachia has an excellent reputation for quality crafts and this fair is an example of what people produce. There will be hand woven baskets, rugs, table runners and placemats, wooden items, stools, brooms, toys, and hand quilted bed quilts, aprons, pillows, stained glass, and hand thrown pottery.
The fair will run from noon to 8 pm on Friday and 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday. Holy Trinity Church is at the intersection of routes 37 and 39.
