NMS Interact Club Reports To Rotary

Newtown Middle School student Autumn Ingram, president of the Rotary-sponsored Interact Club, recently attended a Rotary meeting to report activities of the service club.

The NMS Interact Club supported the Reed School Shoe Collection for Haiti and collected 40 pairs of shoes. They also donated $150 to the Haitian Health Foundation. They also conducted a candy and flower sale and Coins for Cure Collection, which raised $276.

Their drive to collect soda pop tops to send to Shriners Hospital for Children in Springfield was quite successful as they collected more pop tops than last year.

The club also assisted at The Rotary Christmas Season Pancake Breakfast, with the Health Office collection for the tsunami victims, and held a holiday basket raffle in the school cafeteria.

Their fundraisers enabled  contributions of $150 to Relay For Life and $150 nationally to the USO. They were also able to donate $100 to the Newtown Middle School Beautification.

The Interact name is derived from INTERnational ACTion and the young people who participate live up to the name.
