Alice Mary Miller, 78, of Sandy Hook, died June 25, in Danbury Hospital, with her beloved family at her side, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Danbury, December 11, 1932, a daughter of Elizabeth (Hanlon) and Hubert Carey.

Mrs Miller was a lifelong resident of Newtown, living first on Church Hill Road where Exit 10 of I-84 now is, and then in Sandy Hook. She was a graduate of Newtown High School, Class of 1950.

During her working career, she was a dispatcher and switchboard operator at Edmond Town Hall for the Town of Newtown, and retired from Fairfield Hills Hospital in 1989, where she was a purchasing agent in the business office. After retirement, she volunteered at the Dorothy Day Hospitality House in Danbury and was a driver for Newtown Meals On Wheels. Mrs Miller was a communicant of St Rose of Lima Church.

She is survived by her son, Joseph C. Miller, and his wife Susan, of Newtown; two grandchildren, and numerous cousins from the Hanlon family.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, June 29. Interment was in St Rose Cemetery.
