Breakfast Benefits Hospice

To the Editor:

Wow — what a morning the Newtown Chapter of Regional Hospice had on June 15! The generosity of everyone who attended and/or donated items for this event is truly overwhelming. This was the largest breakfast we have had in our 22 years, with approximately 384 people in attendance.

We would like to thank our committee, Marilyn Alexander, Janet Hovious, Maureen Crick Owen, Colleen Honan, Ellyn Gehrett, Linda Trentacosta, and Laurie Wrable, for their dedication and hard work.

The raffle prizes were donated by so many and are truly appreciated.

Our guest speaker, Marilyn Alexander, started this Newtown Hospice committee over 22 years ago with B.J. Geerer as an attempt to raise money for such a worthy and deserving cause. Never in their wildest dreams would they have thought this would be the culmination of their efforts. We are sorry that B.J. passed away several years back, but she is always in our memories.

We would also like to thank Nancy Crevier and The Newtown Bee for their coverage of this event.

Now for the best news of all — we raised a total of $25,572 — an unprecedented amount. Thank you, thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
