All town offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in honor of Independence Day. It is also a holiday for the USPS, so there is no regular mail delivery/pickup or retail services. The Newtown Bee will also be closed on Thursday. The issue dated July 5, 2013, will be published on Wednesday, so all of this week’s deadlines are pushed up by 24 hours.

The Senior Center and C. H. Booth Library also will be closed. The transfer station on Ethan Allen Road will also be closed. 

Retail sales of alcohol will be allowed on Thursday. Not all stores will opt to be open, however; operating hours are the decision of each business owner.

Real estate advertising must be be placed by noon today (Monday, July 1); classifed advertising must be placed by 1 pm tomorrow (Tuesday, July 2).

Bee’s Buck guesses need to be done by 2 pm tomorrow, and Letters to the Editor must be delivered by 3 pm tomorrow. All press releases for this week should be delivered as soon as possible.
