Robert Stephen Staudinger, 74, husband of Joyce (Carey) Staudinger, of Sandy Hook died peacefully on Saturday, June 29, at his home surrounded by his family, after a two-year courageous battle with cancer.

Mr Staudinger was born June 6, 1939, in Bridgeport son of Gizella (Salzer) and Stephen Staudinger. He graduated from Newtown High School and retired from National Can in 1983. Robert was a third-generation dairy farmer and dedicated his life to the farm.

In addition to his wife of 53 years, he leaves behind his two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and John Ferris of Sandy Hook and Terri and Mark Mancusi of Brookfield. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Krystal (Ferris) Benson and her husband Chris, Ashley Ferris, and Mark Mancusi Jr; his cousin Dennis Salzer, along with family and devoted friends.

He was predeceased by his son Robert Staudinger Jr.

Mr Staudinger enjoyed farming, NASCAR, Florida and Maine vacations, a cold Bud Lite, and, most importantly, spending time with his family and friends.

Calling hours with service will be Wednesday, July 3, from 4 to 7 pm, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown.
