Fairy Tales: Theater For Children

DANBURY — Musicals at Richter, Fairfield County’s longest-running outdoor theater, has been offering Fairy Tale Theater, a musical play series for children ages 3-12, Saturday mornings at 11 am. This season’s finalé is scheduled for August 11 at Richter Arts Center, 100 Aunt Hack Road in Danbury.

Performed by an ensemble of young actors under the direction of Elyse Jasensky, the production will be Alice in Wonderland. Each hour-long show is introduced by Mother Goose (Ms Jasensky) and includes arts and crafts activities, plenty of audience participation, and special surprise guests.

Featured in the Fairy Tale Theater troupe are Hannah Klein of Brewster, N.Y.; Allison Hillis of Mahopac, N.Y.; Jeremy Cohn of Bethel; Tara Moore of New Fairfield; Sydney Russell and Diana Curcuruto of Newtown; Katie Murdoch of Ridgefield; Ryan Partelow of New Milford; Natalie Michaels of Wilton; and Bennett and Adam Jasensky, Sammy Panzarino, Melanie Romano and Anni Ylagan of Danbury.

Danbury resident Elyse Jasensky is an accomplished performer who has previously appeared on the Richter stage in Godspell, Guys and Dolls and as the indomitable Mama Rose in Gypsy. She has worked in numerous theaters in Westchester and Fairfield Counties, with credits ranging from Side By Side by Sondheim to Annie Get Your Gun and Annie. When not treading the boards, Ms Jasensky teaches second grade and music at Maimonides Academy in Danbury.

Grounds open at 10:30 am for each 11 am show. Bring blankets or chairs for seating on the lawn. Tickets are $5 each (children under 2 are free) and may be purchased at the door.

For ticket reservations and further information, call the theater’s box office at 748-6873 or visit the Web site at www.musicalsatrichter.org.
