Historic Homes & Gardens Tour

Is Less Than Two Weeks Away

Newtown Historical Society will present its tenth annual historical homes and gardens tour on Saturday, July 10. The self-guided tour will run from 11 am to 5 pm.

Featured will be eight magnificent properties: three 1700s homes and gardens, an 1800s barn recently converted to a house, a 25-acre estate, a restored 1800s home once part of Fairfield Hills Hospital, and the gardens of two master gardeners.

Tickets are $20 each and are available at Cyrenius H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown, and The Little Green Barn, on Washington Avenue in Sandy Hook.

House tour tickets may also be ordered by mail, no later than July 4, from the Newtown Historical Society House Tour, PO Box 189, Newtown CT 06470; be sure to include name, address and phone number.

For information call 426-5937.

Each ticket will include a brochure with descriptions for each house and directions to locate each property. If tickets remain on July 10 they will be sold at Matthew Curtiss House, 44 Main Street in Newtown. The event will benefit the Matthew Curtiss House Museum, an 18th Century saltbox that serves as headquarters for Newtown Historical Society. Proceeds will also benefit the historical society.
