Pacific Intercultural Exchange Seeks Host Families

Fairfield County area families are encouraged to host foreign high school students through the Pacific Intercultural Exchange (PIE) for the 2004-05 academic year.

The students, all of whom are English-speaking, between the ages of 15 and 18, and have their own spending money, as well as their own health and accident insurance, are expected to arrive in a few weeks.

As there are no “typical” host families, PIE can fit a student into virtually any situation, whether it be a single parent, childless or retired couple, or a large family.

Students in the 2004-05 program hail from Germany, the former Soviet Union, South America, Australia, Asia, Mexico, Italy, and other nations.

PIE is a nonprofit educational organization that has sponsored more than 20,000 students from 40 countries since its founding in 1975.

The organization is designated by the US Department of State and is listed in the Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET), certifying that the organization complies with the standards set forth in CSIET’s programs.

Fairfield County area families interest in learning more about student exchange or arranging for a meeting with a PIE representative are encouraged to contact PIE at 800-631-1818.
