Irma L. Carpenter

Irma L. Carpenter, 95, sister of Virginia Lathrop of 701/2  Main Street, Newtown, died June 30 at her sister’s home, where she had lived the past several years. She was the wife of the late John A. Carpenter.

She was born in Chelsea, Mass., December 31, 1904, daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth (Smith) Lee. For most of her life she lived in Revere and Jamaica Plain, Mass. In 1971, she retired after 30 years as personnel management specialist, US Army Engineer Division, Corps of Engineers.

She is survived, besides her sister, by daughter-in-law Marion Carpenter of Plymouth, Mass.; niece Barbara Lee Janavaris, Swampscott, Mass.; nephew the Rev George Carroll of Jacumba, Calif.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St Rose of  Lima Church, Newtown, July 3. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, Mass.

Contributions in her memory may be made to Regional Hospice, 30 West Street, Danbury, CT 06810.

Arrangements were by the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
